Why choose Rx Massage Therapy for your Medical Massage or Sports Massage therapy? |
That is what Ben was seeking for chronic back pain from a disc issue, and shoulder pain from playing sports through college. Massage school was disappointing because it was extremely basic and didn't get into how to address injuries or pathologies. In his journey for pain relief from repetitive stress injuries related to work and play, he found a book by Whitney Lowe, Orthopedic Assessment for Massage Therapists. Self-assessment and treatment addressed his new and lingering issues in a matter of a few minutes a day. That put him on the path to using assessment to determine which of the massage techniques to use and how to teach self-care to people seeking relief.
Ben began his intense study of massage therapy in 2001 and became licensed as a Massage Therapist by the State of Florida's Department of Health in 2002. He is an active member in all three major massage therapy associations to stay at the top of the industry.
With an in-depth background in kinesiology (the study of movement) and constant study of anatomy and physiology, he is a low back pain specialist known for working with athletes of every level from nearly every sport. Ben has more than 18 years of experience in clinical environments specializing in low back pain, neck pain, injuries suffered from an auto accidents or athletics. Most famously, Ben is know for working with local athletes at marathons, triathlons, and specializes in working with volleyball players. He has also become quite popular through treating people suffering from previous concussions and autoimmune diseases found to be related to the lymphatic system. He is proficient in assessing the origins of pain and dysfunction, and employs a multitude of massage techniques that restore function and eliminate pain quickly.
Ben's training and tutelage under several of the best clinical massage educators in the industry is why his skills are sought after. He was a member of the 2004 Athens Health Services Sports Massage Team and worked in the Olympic Village in Athens, Greece. He has been a Medical Tent Coordinator for the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) from 2003 to 2014.
For more than 20 years, Ben has worked closely with chiropractors, orthopedic physicians, physical therapists, acupuncture physicians, and cosmetic surgeons to get patients feeling better quickly. His approach to assessment and treatment is different from most regarding his thorough and informative sessions. One of his unique talents is taking a complex system of anatomy or function and explaining it in clear and concise terms which he is able to do because he truly understands how the body works.
